When asked about their profession, few can proudly declare, "I save lives for a living!" Since its inception as a traffic and general safety department in the 1960s and 1970s, Southeastern's Occupational Safety and Health Department (OSH) has grown into one of the largest programs of its kind in the United States.

OSH programs train individuals in the practice of safety and health for industry, government and education. The OSH department offers Bachelors of Science and Master of Science degrees, Both programs have been Qualified Academic Programs (QAP) since 2016 and 2017, respectively. Graduates of our program are qualified to receive the Graduate Safety Professional designation upon application to the Board of Safety Professionals (BCSP).

As the demand for occupational safety professionals grows under congressional mandates and the scarcity of universities offering OSH degrees, Southeastern's program is poised for continued expansion. Its reputation and influence in occupational safety are unparalleled, ensuring its relevance and prominence in the field for years to come.
